Will the price of gold collapse if a large mine is found?

I hear this question quite often, so let us discuss it. News recently spread that Uganda had found as much gold as had been mined throughout human history. It quickly proved false—but what if it really happened? I have also heard that the price will collapse when we start mining in space. Perhaps we should first solve the problem of trains being 90 minutes late when one centimetre of snow falls, and then move on to outer space. No?

The problem is producing gold, because that is impossible. Gold forms under the conditions created by a supernova explosion, so a star has to die. We can probably agree that this happens relatively rarely in the back garden—and if it does, nothing else will matter anyway. 😊 Thus, even if a new source is found, the supply remains finite.

Most of Earth has already been mapped and there are no new mines. Gold that can be extracted with current technology will run out within 20 years. Never in human history has production failed to meet demand. What do you think will happen when the mines are depleted? The price will explode. I know there is still gold in the oceans and in space, but it has to be mined—and that costs money.

I believe this presents a great opportunity for our generation, and people who think ahead for the long term can benefit greatly.

Think ahead—own gold!
